Weasel recently had an interview on the Versus network regarding his career, association with both Camp Oddball and Camp Absurd brutality, his name, and recent happenings.
On his career thus far: "It sucks coming out with a loss right off the bat. Both Wade and I did this right away and it sucks. It's like fighting an uphill battle the rest of your time. Follow that up with a bullshit judge's DRAW and I was already 'in a slump.' I find it funny that people think I'm just now emerging as a threat. I've ALWAYS been that threat, I've just had two REALLY bad matches. Expect to see more of what happened to Ronaldo.
Oh, and just because I prefer to win by knockout... that doesn't mean I can't win by submission."
On association with Camp Oddball: "Wade and I have been friends as long as I can remember. Basically we knew each other before fighting was even a thought. Joining the ECL and forming a gym with him has been great. He's a hard worker, loves to roll at any time. The only bad thing I can say about him, is that he's stubborn. He's got a chin of granite and that lets him think he doesn't have to improve his striking.
As far as Marcus goes, I don't really want to talk about him. He quit, got bogged down in his own mind games and left. Screw 'em..."
On formation of Camp Absurd Brutality: "It's really an honor to team up with everyone. Lama's submission game has already brought mine up, not to mention the amazing well rounded-ness that both Chink and Akira bring into the fold. I think they've learned to appreciate my clinch game a lot more and Wade's wrestling. You should see it when Wade and Lama start rolling. You can feel the foundation of the gym shake.
No Name is a great addition as well. He's not much for verbalizing what he's thinking but the guy knows how to fight. I already know that my chin is twice as good as it was a couple days ago, just from taking a few shots from that monster. And despite what people think, he hasn't actually eaten a child. Well, as far as I've SEEN anyway."
On possibility of facing Akira in the near future: "Akira and I are already sparring a lot. But it doesn't mean that we're showing each other everything we've got. Not yet anyway. I think if we were to fight, it'd be a good one. I respect the hell out of him and think he feels the same way. Regardless of who would win that one, you know the belt would be coming right back to the gym. And the winner would tell the loser immediately what they saw in their gameplan, and vice versa.
I like the idea of fighting a friend. Especially for a coveted title."
On Wade and Chink's impending matchup: "It hasn't been penciled in yet but they know it's coming. Weird thing is, neither really care. They've already fought twice before, each holding a decisive victory. They still work out together, still share tips and secrets. Hell, I even think I saw Chink showing Wade a slick counter to the Guillotine and Wade giving strength training tips for ground punching.
They're both professionals, despite what Wade's words may convey, and they both fight for the love of fighting. If it was all about money, they wouldn't be caught dead together. Instead, they've improved each other's game because they want to be the best.
As far as I see it, the Middleweight Division is Wade Wilson, Chink McCallister, and then everyone else. And just because Wade has the title... that doesn't mean that Chink isn't the best right now."
On his name: "I got the nickname Weasel growing up because I was a slippery little guy. I boxed in high school and had the best slips, bobs, and weaves of anyone in the state. My size, dark hair, and agility earned me the name. I just never gave it back."
On newcomers to the LW fold: "Thorstein and Rheaume both like to talk. Whatever, they're more then welcome to. Rheaume's even undefeated. Good for him. But all streaks end and there's always a first loss. I see Rheaume's coming soon. No offense to him, but he's not showing anything that isn't already in the division. A guy like Roscoe, with strong strikes and submissions will eat him up. Not to mention Akira. Hell, if the kid wants to pick a fight with me, all the more reason for me to move up the rankings for a shot at Tetsuo."
